The Rayol Manor's Gardens : In 1989, the Conservatoire du Littoral bought the Domaine du Rayol, an estate abandoned for twenty years.
The rehabilitation and restucturing of the garden began immediately after purchase.
The landscapist Gilles Clément has created gardens using the flora and plants of various Mediterranean type climates of the world:
- Mediterranean area, South-East California, central Chile, Capetown area of South-Africa, Southern Australia.
Thus, from the old garden of the Domaine several gardens display the vegetal landscape of these Mediterranean climates.
”Jardins du Domaine du Rayol” have obtained the special label of ”Remarquable Garden” awarded by the French ministry of Culture (2005).
