Description
The property is from the biginning of the XIXth century. It belonged to René Guichemerre, architect. He devoted his life to this Park and did not stop thinking, drawing, building and restoring this garden. When he died, in 1988, he bequeathed the property to the city of Dax.
On more than three hectares, you can discover 1245 trees of 27 different species. This park is a blending between classic style (French garden) and a landscaped style based on naturalism. Since 1989, the Park of Sarrat is registered on the supplementary inventory of Ancient memorials. It is an arboretum, a naturel conservatory, as well as a centre of introduction to the environment.
A natural conservatory :
Thanks to the fern Ophioglosse from the Azores an the anemone, the park of Sarrat became a natural conservatory.
A centre of introduction to the environment :
Children and students can discover the problems of environment thanks formations.

- Opening 2012 :
Guided tours only: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 3.30 pm (duration of visit 1H30).
No visits free.
Closing in December and January. - Charges :
3,50 euros per person.
Groups: 2,5 euros (reservation to the tourist office).
