The Gardens Of The Castle Of Milandes

In the centre of Perigord Noir, the Castle of Milandes overlooks the river Dordogne. The Lord François de Caumont built it in 1489 at the request of his wife, Claude de Cardaillac.
The new owners, M and Mrs Henry de Labarre, wanted to enhance the gardens and have planted more than 2800 boxes in order to make the different plantations form a coherent unity: four plantations at the castle’s entry surround the famous magnolias from 1900, different beds in front of the main façade show more than 3500 flowers surrounding a fountain installed it 2007, another plantation on the North side gives our birds of prey the possibility to relax during the shows, and last but not least 250 lavenders are situated in front of the round tower at the North East angle of the castle.

• Opening 2012 :
  Open from 1st of April to 1st of November 2011. Duration of visit 1,30 to 2 hours.
  Open from 9.30 or 10 am to 6.15 or 7.30 pm according to the season.
  The price includes a visit of the castle, with the exhibition about JosephineBaker, the birds of prey and their show, and a promenade in the garden.
  Pets are not allowed to the site.

  Guided visits with previous booking, Duration of a guided visit : 1h à 1h30, Minimal number of persons for a guided visit : 15.
  Access partially adapted for disabled persons.
  Individual visitors : (Non-guided visit: audio guide and written guide).

  Adults ( over 17 years) : 8,50 €. Children (from 5 to 17 years): 5,60 €. Disabled persons : 7,00€.
