Description
The Botanical Garden of the "Prieuré d'Orchaise" is a park of 3 ha, overlooking the valley of Cisse, and leaned with a Romance steeple which was built as of 1060 by the monks of Marmoutiers. Hubert Treuille, a fervent admirer of nature and world wide traveller, has gathered more than 2000 varieties of plants from all parts of the world.
The visitor and amateur will appreciate the harmoniously displayed peonies, magniolias, horned maples, cherry trees with flowers and " crab-trees ", as well as the ponds planted with lotus and water lilies and also a great number of roses and rare shrubs, selected for their beauty.Flowers, attractive barks, fragances, magnificient autumn colours, offer in every season marvellous discoveries.
The French National Horticultural Society awarded its First Prize to the garden in 1993.
