Gardens Of the Château d'Ussé

The lower terrace carries the pleasure garden. Access is from the eastern moat. At the high bed's eastern end, which dominates the two lower levels, square lawns and side alleys overlook the orangery garden below. Note the beautiful topiaries.
Symmetrically a deeper garden prolongs the terrace at the west. It conserves some trees from the last century, on the lawn and discloses the beautiful ornaments of the terrace of honour. If the oval basin indicates a perpendicular axe from the window of the grand salon, the principal axe of composition for the garden is taken from the grand terrace.
Below, the ancient kitchen garden is invisible from the terrace of honour. The flowers which decorate the interior of the castle are grown near the orangery.
