Botanical Garden Of La Petite Rochelle
Description
The garden created in 1976 by Hélène d'Andlau was the first of eight – the latest was created in 2008 - established on a one hectare piece of land, each with its particular design, colour scheme and atmosphere, a combination of the controlled naturalness of the English and of the more formally structured French styles. The gardens offer a rich diversity of perennials, shrubs and trees, selected for their year round interest: spring and summer for flowering, autumn and winter for asters and foliage colour. The Magnolia, Rhododendron, Cornus, Pieris and Daphne collections in particular combine botanical interest and beauty.
After receiving the quality label "Jardin Remarquable" from the Ministry of Culture in 2004 the garden was awarded the first prize "Top des Parcs" for France by Briggs and Stratton in 2006 and the first prize in the Bonpland Garden competition in 2010.
