Description
Bienassis Castle, built in 1400 for Jean 1 de Quelenec, Lord of Brittany, was partially destroyed during the wars of the Confederacy.
From 1620, it was rebuilt by Gilles Visdelou; later, it was passed on by marriage to the Count of Lamarck, the Duke of Arenberg, and in 1760 to the Count de la Ville Théart, Brittany Stables Superintendent. During the French Revolution the castle was confiscated and used as a prison. Since 1880 it is in the possession of the Kerjégu family.
Bienassis, occupied family castle, and maintained for more than six centuries, represents a very complete and homogenous complex with its grand avenue (classified national monument), its large moats, its rampart sand inner court, with its castle and outbuildings of rose sandstone from Erquy, its chapel and finally its French garden and kitchen garden.
Inside the castle, the furnished ground floor , constituted by the Grand Salon, the entry hall, the guardians lodge, the dining room and kitchen, tells the stories of a living home.
